A few days ago, Foreign Affairs published an article explaining „Why ISIS Is Rooting for Trump.“ Among the reasons given therein, the „prophecy of a „Final Battle“ once again reminds us of the waning „Islamic State’s“ ideologic base. In other words: There is a reason why US ground troops could still lead to highly dangerous ramifications.

Donald Trump just accused Barack Obama of being the „founder of ISIS“ while calling Hillary Clinton its „co-founder.“ Although he did not go into detail, his remarks once again highlight the need to revisit the US‘ role in the region in general and the rise of the „Islamic State“ in particular. Unfortunately, Trump’s remarks are not completely off the mark.
Tons of articles, comments, facebook-posts or tweets have been written on the „Islamic State“. What has received seemingly little attention are its own words: Hence a few quotes from its official magazine Dabiq including some comments of mine.
Der „Islamische Staat“ gerät auf dem konventionellen Schlachtfeld immer mehr in Bedrängnis. Darauf reagiert er mit einer Eskalation des weltweiten Terrors. Das Gesetz unbeabsichtigter Folgen scheint leider einmal mehr zuzuschlagen.
